Why Oppose Wisconsin SB 30

Oppose SB 30

As citizens deeply concerned about Kansas' wildlife and natural resources, we urge you to join the NDA in opposing this misguided bill. If SB 30 is enacted, it would undermine efforts to combat CWD and protect our deer herds, jeopardizing the future of hunting in Wisconsin.

SB 30 proposes to remove captive herds from the determination of baiting bans for chronic wasting disease (CWD) or bovine tuberculosis (TB) positive counties, potentially exacerbating the spread of CWD and TB in both captive and wild deer populations.

CWD is a significant concern for deer hunters and conservationists alike. It poses a serious threat to the health and sustainability of our deer herds, impacting both captive and wild populations. Therefore, it's imperative both captive and wild herds are taken into account when responding to positive CWD cases.

Furthermore, the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) should be the primary authority on CWD responses and deer herd management. By entrusting the DNR with this responsibility, we can ensure decisions are based on sound scientific principles and best practices for wildlife conservation.

TAKE ACTION

As passionate deer hunters and advocates for our natural resources, we must urge Governor Tony Evers to veto SB 30. This bill undermines efforts to combat CWD and protect our deer herds, jeopardizing the future of hunting in Wisconsin.

Together, we can make a difference and ensure a brighter future for Wisconsin's deer population.
